Rich Redmond has been playing drums and percussion professionally for almost two decades. He studied music and percussion classically and applies that experience to the countless genres of music he has performed (from classical to salsa, calypso to country, rock to jazz). Nashville has been his home base for ten years now.
Early years Rich Redmond spent the first eleven years of his life in New England. His interest in music and drumming started at an early age. At age eight, his amazingly supportive parents encouraged him to start taking drum lessons at The Milford Percussion and Guitar Workshop. "My first drum was a no-name blue sparkle snare drum. I thought it was the Holy Grail! I later added one small bass drum and a cracked and warped cymbal! I practiced all of my lesson material faithfully, but I really wanted to be Peter Criss (of Kiss)", laughs Rich. The training he received at this early age gave Rich an invaluable edge in his participation in school music programs.
Rich Redmond devoured drum method books and used his knowledge to perform in every musical organization Middle and High School had to offer: Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Marching Band…Rich recalls: “I did it all. I was consumed with music. I practiced constantly and consistently and was determined to make a career out of music!” It was also during this time that Rich's exposure to The Police's "Synchronicity" record and Carmine Appice's "Realistic Rock" method b.....
